As school trips they don't get any better than spending the afternoon at the House of Commons in Speaker's private office. Well that is what happened to Mario and Noa, two students from St Francis de Sales School Council, winners of the 2015 Awards for their prject hosting older people for lunch every Tuesday. Annie Waddington from Parliament's Education Service contacted St Francis de Sales school asking of two students would like to help judge this year's competition along with Valerie Vaz MP, Edge Watchorn (Head of Parliament's Education Service), Greg Sanderson from Smart School Councils Community, and of course Mr Speaker himself! The children had a brilliant time. Noa said, "This is the best school trip ever", and Mario said, "My mom was so excited, particularly when she found out I was one of the judges". The children are preparing an assembly on their experiences, and want to ensure other children will continue to be excited about School Councils and the positive changes they can make. Both Mario and Noa found it challenging to decide on what we're the best projects because the standard was so high. But they have some great ideas for what St Francis de Sales School Council can do next year.
