Tell us what your project was about
Our project was focused on helping people all over the world and getting as many people as possible involved with our fundrasing event's such as Children in need, Comic relief and The salvation army. For each charity we held a different event ,for Children in need we came dressed as cowboys and indian's and had a bun sale we raised in total £271.05 which was all donated to the charity. For comic relief we came in non-uniform and held a talent competition. We raised approximatley £171.00 which again was all donated to Comic relief. However at the end of 2012 we decided to take part in something a little bit different ,we donated 113 christmas shoe boxes to The Salvation Army and every person in william booth house recieved one of our christmas gifts also we donated approximately £71 to the charity aswell.

A view from a student on why this was a great project
We've all been there as a student, we've been told to do a bit of work in silence, say making a powerpoint on the computer or something or finishing off a piece of coursework. Before this would be done in complete silence, which is boring for the student who, over time, grows weary of this dull tedium and so does not put effort into what he or she is doing. Giving students the choice to listen to music, with the teachers permission, combines the joy of listening to ones own music with the school work that needs doing. This gives the student motivation to power on through the piece of work with enthusiasm, a personal favorite of mine is the show must go on by Queen

A view from an adult on why this was a great project
I have known some students to lack enthusiasm when presented with a silent work task but when they are given the opportunity to listen to music, their entire work ethic has changed around. Some psychological studies have shown the beneficial effect of listening to music whilst doing work and so giving our students the opportunity to listen to music is a real step forward for education
