Student council is in our school and our community to make it a better, more active and lively place to live. We have 240 in our council. Through Student Council we can express our feelings and make friendly relationships between fellow colleagues, helping to solve community problems in a fun but safe way. We think outside the box!

Top tips

  1. Include everyone, not just a select few. It's their school too!
  2. Make sure each person has a voice and is encouraged to use it to improve the community.
  3. Get things done, make it reality - don't just talk about it!

Project title: KELLS LANE PARK PROJECT

Engine Lane Park was a mess, full of graffiti and dog waste. We came up with lots of ideas about how to improve it. We had meetings with the police, the council and a sculptor; to create a garden, a play area and our own sculpture.

It took 3 years, but now our park keepers litter pick and weed to keep it looking good. It has been a great success, as it is always busy and we are so proud that its now been renamed Kells Lane Park.
